The Caribbean Journal of Earth Science (CJES) is now available online as well as still being available in hard copy. The Journal provides an ideal forum for the dissemination of all research results within the Earth Sciences. Online publication provides certain advantages over paper publication: author's work appears quickly once it is accepted with no need to wait for a complete issue; authors work is easily accessible on the internet for free leading to greater citations; colour illustration is available at no extra cost. There are NO article processing fees.

The h-index for the journal (derived from Publish or Perish by Harzing.com) = 18 (based on citations to papers in The Caribbean Journal of Earth Science and The Journal of the Geological Society of Jamaica).

The Journal was first published under the name Geonotes in 1958. In 1965 (beginning with volume 7) it changed its name to the Journal of the Geological Society of Jamaica, and in 2000 (beginning with volume 34) to The Caribbean Journal of Earth Sicence.

There has also been a series of "Special Issues" including issues reporting the results of conferences on bauxite, industrial minerals and the status of Jamaican geology. The Caribbean Journal of Earth Science no longer produces "special issues" but instead publishes "Thematic Issues" in its normal volume runs.

The Journal accepts papers on all aspects of Geology and Geosciences that have relevance to the Caribbean and Central American region. This can include research papers, notes and review articles. All submitted manuscripts are reviewed by two international reviewers. Once revisions are accepted, issues usually appear online with two weeks.

The Caribbean Journal of Earth Science is published by the Geological Society of Jamaica.
